Judge people based on what they do, not on what they say they do.

Some people claim “you can see who I am by looking at what I do” but as soon as you have a closer look at what they actually do, you will quickly discover that they mean “listen to what I say I do, don’t look at what I really do”. What they do has very little to do with what they want others to believe that they do.

This leads us to an old and still very valid Dutch expression. Judge people based on what they do, not on what they say they do. Especially with many people on social media pretending to do things they are not actually doing, and preaching about things they are not truly committed to themselves, this expression had not lost any value over time. In fact, it gained value and is more important than it was centuries ago when it was coined and became a part of the Dutch down-to-earth mentality.
