The largest risk in Cyber Security is a false sense of safety. The largest threat in Cyber Security are those who create a false sense of safety.
There are a lot of false narrative related to cybersecurity, and unless you are having the required digital skills to evaluate them all, it can be quite challenging to figure out what is right and what isn’t. To add to the challenge we need to keep in mind that cybercriminals are experts in creating a false sense of security for their victims.
Thinking that something is safe when it isn’t is a significant risk. That false sense of safety will lure people into doing what they should not do. And those who create a false sense of safety are at least as much part of the problem as those who fall for it. What makes it worse is that there are many so-called cybersecurity experts and even brands who create that false sense of safety by spreading misleading narrative.
“This operating system can not be hacked” is a false statement and misleads people into believing that security and safety can be achieved by using that operating system. “Your data is safe on this device” is nonsense and misleading, especially when it comes from the brand itself.
The largest risk in Cyber Security is a false sense of safety. The largest threat in Cyber Security are those who create a false sense of safety!
