Don’t retrofit Agile on non-Agile processes

There are still many organizations that prefer to cherry pick from the Agile Principles, and somewhere along the line of conventional projects and processes attempt to retrofit an Agile concept to create that “look mom, I’m agile” moment.

A “Kanban-ish” Gantt Chart with fixed tasks and deadlines is one of the most telling examples. At the end of a non-Agile project suddenly doing an “Agile Retrospective” is just another example of the many we have discussed during our Annual Agile Practitioners Workshop.

When the processes of value creation are not Agile by design, these attempts are nothing shy of window shopping.
